Why it is performed
Flexible cystoscopy is used to investigate blood in the urine, recurrent infection, bladder symptoms and to survey the bladder after treatment.
On the day
The procedure uses a fine flexible camera passed via the urethra. Local anaesthetic gel is used and most patients find it uncomfortable rather than painful.
